Course Objective:

Implant Placement Mastery

This course is intended for thoes who wish to take their surgical skill sets to the next level by addressing maxillary posterior sites with vertical deficiency. This course consists of a lecture with hands-on activities to expand knowledge on vertical crestal sinus augmentation. Emphasis will be on recognizing the clinical indications, understanding the biological principles of these surgeries, as well as exploring the latest techniquest and materials.

Hands-on Activities:

Surgical Techniques

  • Learn to perform crestal approach sinus lifts on typdodont models with immediate implant placement
  • Learn how to manage deficient vertical bone volume in the posterior maxilla using the OneCAS Kit or CAS Kit and Implants

Clinical Applications:

  • Understand the sinus classification systems available to be able to correctly identify and treatment plan the surgical case
  • Understand sinus augmentation and wound healing to determine when to restore to avoid failures
  • Review and understand the foundational anatomy of the soon to be augmented sinus and understand specific pathological endings
  • Understand indications and contraindications with local and systemic factors for sinus augmentation
  • Learn clinical limiting factors when to perform lateral wall versus transcrestal approach sinus lift techniques
  • Understand the predictability, protability, and standard of care discussion for doctors to utilize 3D cone beam CBCT for predictable sinus augmentation
  • Learn step by step predictable and safe methods to hydrostatically tent the vertically decient ridge for immediate implant placement
  • Understand the specific bone graft materials available for sinus augmentation
  • Be able to clinically determine and implement when to use autogenous, allograft, xenograft, and alloplastic materials to accomplish predictable sinus augmentation
  • Understand specific clinical protocols to perform immediate implant placement post sinus augmentation for single and multiple edentulous sites
  • Understand in-depth pharmacology protocols for pre and post surgical management for sinus augmentation
